Indian cuisine is one of the most popular cuisines on the world. Main things in Indian cuisine are rice and variety of spices. Vegetarian food is very common in India because of the religious aspects but India’s world famous meals are Chicken Tandoori and Zafrani Pulao. A major difference in Indian food culture is that the north part is wheat based and the south part is rice based. Chili is another main element for Indian meals. Indian people really love spices and the mostly used ones are black mustard, cumin, chili pepper, turmeric, fenugreek, asafetida, coriander, garlic and ginger etc. Dairy products are also common in use such as milk, paneer, ghee and yoghurt are highly evident especially in North Indian cuisine.
Samosa is the most popular snack in India and it is a variety of pastry stuffed with potato, cheese, mushroom, chick pea or even minced meat. For cooking, peanut oil is the most popular one but coconut and mustard oils are also popular in India.

Indian sweets are very delicious and usually made of milk and can be very sweet. In the south part of India tropical fruits such as coconuts, pineapples, papayas are very seasonal and strawberries, soft apples and apricots are very seasonal in the north part. The staple beverage is Tea in India. Tea also has spices such as cardamom, cloves, cinnamon and ginger, and large quantities of milk. Coffee is another popular beverage. The most famous alcoholic beverages in India are palm wine, Indian beer and fenny.
Indians main dish is lunch; light meals are preferred at dinner time.
